I'm looking to get a Cold Air Intake but I have a question before I do.

Is there a way I can install it without it being all the way at the bottom of the engine? I've seen people with that and it looks good...when it's not raining or snowing. If not, then I'll probably get a short RAM air.

depends on the intake you buy. I think the Fujita and Injen, and one of the old AEM intakes can be converted from CAI to short ram(or hot air intake as I like to call it)

Silly question, would a CAI or RAI affect the sound of the engine? Like make the exhaust sound different or anything? I mean I would think so, but not by much right?

Not the exhaust, but the intake has a sound of its own. If head RAI have its sound at high rpms.
