Dealer oil change or no/checking timing belt

So all my check engine lights were cleared, thanks to your awesome suggestions and my husband's hard work.

Dealer said it's a good idea to get one oil change from them after you buy a new (used) car like I did. He said Chevy mechanics know the cars a lot better
and could spot a hose that needed replaced/etc. better. Is that a good idea or would I be just as good to go with a cheaper option like jiffy lube?

Also, can dealer or oil can henry's or jiffy lube check my timing chain condition when they do oil change? i've read horror stories about those breaking and toasting cars. is it something my husband could check and can you tell by looking if you need a new one soon?

Cobalts have a timing chain so it shouldn't need replaced for a long time.

I stay away from Jiffy Lube places. The dealership should offer an inspection service, that might not be a bad idea.

Do you think Oil Can henry's is okay...better than jiffy lube or meineke?
When i had a recall fixed, the dealer did do an inspection at that time. Or do
they do a more thorough one during an oil change?

You'd have to talk to the dealership on the specifics of what they checked. As for Oil Can Henry's and similar shops I stay away, heard too many horror stories and it's way too easy to change your own oil.
