I have a 2007 cobalt ls and when I brought it in to get fixed yesterday they told me today that the temp is running a little low... At the lowest it gets is 180 and around 195 the highest. The guy told me it should always be around 195ish and that I'm going to have problems in winter or some shit. He says its gonna cost like $200 to get a thermostat.

Whats your guys perspective on this?

180-210 is a normal operating temp. normal highway driving i am usually at 180-84, city driving normally around 201-205, i can see spikes as high as 207

Though lately with the cooler weather i see temps as cool as 178 while cruising on the highway early mornings.

Yeah 190_210 is normal as for 200 dollars no... You should just need new thermostat. Seal. And instant gasket. Haven't changed mine but thermostat change should be easy...

Don't worry about temps unless you see +230*. Or if the fans don't come on before 222*
