Exhaust Size Help Needed...Quick!!!

I ordered a magnaflow muffler from KRS. I was planning on having a 2.25" cat back put on. I called a muffler shop today to check prices and they said they didnt know if going from a 1.875" to 2.25" would free up that much more horsepower. Any thoughts on this??? will it be that much of a performance gain??? will it sound any different??? Plan on having this installed tomorrow(march 11th, 2010)....
