The intake cam on the 2.2 is a little longer than the exhaust so is the extra length for the cam sensor or is it used for an alignment tool. Asking this question because some DOHC engines require an alignment tool plus a cam locking tool. My motor is giving me a hard time and I would hate to do all the work of just retiming it.

To time your ecotec you have to line up the 3 colored links of the chain with the indicators on the cams and crank gears.

Do you also have to time the balance shaft chain with it too?

Believe that's on a chain with just balance shafts and the crank.
