I am looking for my first car and which one has a better sound? I know the Manual will have a nicer sound when shifting, etc. But which one sounds good? Does the Automatic sound a turd just cruising down the road with an exhaust?

Which would be a good exhaust too? I want one that sounds loud and powerful.

If you want something loud and powerful well you might just wanna buy a V8 cause your not gonna get a "loud" or "powerful" sound from a four cylinder just wont happen

I am actually 16 and just made an account yesterday and wasn't sure if you had to be a certain age to do things like you do on some sites so i made my age over 18 and just picked it randomly. But yes it is my first car....

the only cobalts that sound nice from the factory are the SS/SC or the SS/TC. they're both manual only and cost a lot more than a base model unless you find the right buyer

I hate the sound of an automatic 4cyl with an exhaust. the base models will all sound the same. supercharged or turboed balts sound best and are all manuals unless its a custom build of a base model.

manual sounds so much better, especially with a nice setup and you are shifting under decent acceleration or during deceleration and you get the grumble and pops :), one thing I love about rev-matching and downshifting while slowing.

This is the post I was looking for. My buddy has an LS and it sounds great and it's a stick. I just wanted those grumbles and pops and didn't know how the auto would sound.
Thanks.

I have an 08 Cobalt LS, It's a standard and all I did for now was take the resonator off which cost maybe 20 bucks. I get some complements. I just went to auto-zone and bought a tip that looks just like the tips on the SS Cobalts and took a pipe and welded it on. I'm impressed by it.
Just remember, haters will always hate.
