So I was getting cylinder 1 misfire did the typical trouble shooting wouldn't go away. My last ditch effort to not stop tearing down any part of the motor is let's run some Techron or Seafoam through it see what happens. Well I decided on Techron I added it to about 3/4 tano sloshed it around for mixing ran it to empty. I noticed my idle getting better so I cleared the codes but found a new code P0171. System to lean. This code came up a few times after I would clear it but never right away. Misfire code went away. Most of the time it comes I'm idling for extended times. Fast forward to today I'm almost half tank in on regular gad still have a rough idle but better. Misfire code came back but system lean code hasn't returned could Techron have made my car think it was lean but fix misfire by raising octane? I need to check gapping on my plugs. I'm so confused and I'm tired of this check engine ligjt. It's on now for misfire cylinder 1. If gapping plugs doesn't work I'm lost. I switched several times to rule out other components. I'm trying to avoid internal. I'm thinking running another bottle of Techron at less than half tank gas

Cleaned the MAF? Might be letting in air that hasn't been metered due to junk in the MAF.

That's the one off the air box right? What's a safe way to clean it?

Yeah it's stuck into the side of the neck in the airbox. Unplug it and remove from the airbox. Spray down the element with some MAF cleaner spray, let it dry and then reassemble. It should all evaporate pretty quick but give it a little shake and then 5 minutes or so somewhere that it will dry.

The other thing to check for is vacuum leaks, which is the probable cause here. Make sure none of your vacuum lines have holes or are unplugged.

Maybe I have caused the lean code to pop. So I used starting fluid spraying around hoses and what not. I could hear sucking around the fuel injectors. I sprayed that way and looks like my injectors are not seated well? I spray each one on each one I can almost choke the motor out. I moved some injectors around to rule out my misfire wasn't that so maybe I caused a leak not seating them right bUT I pushed them as far as I could then tightened it down not sure what else I can do.

Oh wow. Yeah if the injectors aren't seated that'd certainly do it. Here's what I found on injector install, this is for an 09 2.2 but should be basically the same for 05-10 2.2.
