yes i have to, my crank, alternator, and AC condensor are all 5 rib, its one of the things we 2.2/2.4's have to do, cut one rib off the belt, doesnt make a difference in performance, works just as well

someone (sully) in ontario province has to swap for 5 to 6 ribs straps according to vince

i think you will love your car cuz on mine i got a 2.9 pulley and i love how it pulls now. its ridiculous.

He's on crack, don't need to change anything. # of ribs don't make a diffrence.

I mean to get more boost with a smaller pulley you need to swap to a 6 rib

You do not need a 6 rib for a smaller pulley. the belt is just as strong if it has 5 ribs on it. i haven't seen anyone lose boost or slip with 5 ribs. i am boosting 15 pounds and i still haven't had belt slip or lose boost.

Yeah surface area has nothing to do with the amount of friction created

I'm going to go change my 275mm tire out for rubber bands

only thing i dislike about the cutting of the belt is the chance its compromising its integrity, im sure when cut right its not a issue, i just dont like the idea....but dosent matter since i will be cutting a belt in the future lol...just wish there was a belt made for it....
