Hello, I'm new to the forums, I just bought my first car, and it's an 06 Cobalt, and I'm having troubles with it already.
Started it up this morning and I have an engine light on.

My dad said he would run the codes for me to see if we can find out what it is, I hope it's not to serious.
What are the most common problems with Cobalts?

I'm a girl, please keep it simple, but hey? at least I'm not a blonde.

welcome!
common issues
front end parts - tie rods, control arm bushings ,sway bar end links
iv had issues with my steering column being cracked about 3 times
its likely the check engine light is something simple tho. often is.

Check light is probably a misfire, what trim level do you have? Welcome!

Geeez guys when it rains it pours, my dad ran the code, I think it said knock sensor???, or something like that. But dad cleared the code, so far it hasn't popped back up.
But last nite I hit a deer, broke the headlight, messed up my hood, and some how imploded the passenger side door glass.

I am sooooo mad, and boy was my dad mad, he used language I've never heard him use before.
He made sure I was ok first, but then after that, he xploded.

Being a car guy, he's very picky and wants things to look nice, he works on his S10 all the time, he's got a supercharged S10, the SS package, I guess they are hard to find???? Idk, lol lol

But my Cobalt is the LT model, it don't even have license plate on it yet, and this deer has to pull out in front of me, I had no choice but to hit it.
Now it's going to be the long wait of getting it fixed. Dang it Dang it Dang it!!!!!
