Brought my 08 SS in for po236 code the mechanic was a friend but wasn't equipped to fix turbos he had it for over a week and finally said that the actuator rod head snapped off snapped off. Do I have to get a whole new Turbo or can the actuator rod be put on is this an expensive fix. Please help I've already had to trash one car and now I got another car in the shop for that the tune of 700 dollars. We've been out of work for almost a week losing our minds.

I'm the owner of a 2008 SS I'm going to the same thing with the same codes I just had a friend look at my car who fixes turbos on Cessnas and also is done turbo rebuilds on GNX and other reputable cars in fact he just diagnosed it tonight. Do not trash your car you can buy a wastegate actuator and have it replaced you do not have to replace the turbo. Actuator rods I've seen so far go from $68 to Mid 100's. I was sweating it out for a long time we can both rejoice! Your Cobalt is a rare car hang on to it for dear life! Good luck!
