Plug for wiring harness

I have a 2006 cobalt ls. There is a male and female plug which connects wires coming from the fuse box in a tube to the wiring harness for the headlights/turn signal etc. This plug is badly corroded. I do not want to pay $250 for these two plugs as the dealer told me I would need to buy the entire harness. Can I simply hard wire these wires together and bypass the plug?
