Problem with K&N cold air intake!

I just installed it yesterday, and everytime i start up my 2.2, it sputters then doesnt idle. Im pretty sure its the Mass Airflow sensor, because the car runs when it is not plugged in. maybe its in backwards? or anyone else know any other solution?

Check if it is backwards and clean your throttle body.

Clean out your maf with maf cleaner betting your filter was over oiled and got some in it.

Could also try disconnecting the battery for a bit to let the ECU reset.

yea the MAF is definitely backwards. unfortunately k&n didnt send me an adapter to make it fit right when i flip it. soooo now i gota wait for that part

Have a picture of the whole thing installed? Strange that it would fit backwards and not correctly. Is the tube on backwards?

Turn the pipe around?
Cuz I don't think it can go in backwards with the piping in correctly.

Just thinking aloud, I can't imagine yours being the only one that they drilled wrong.

i dont see how you could put it on backwards, the screws dont line up... at all, if its upside down. a picture of it would help and hope nothing is screwed up.

heres a couple pics i already had, when i run the car w/ the holes lined up, it sputters a little then shuts down. the little arrow on the maf is also pointing toward the filter on the pic where the holes line up.

I'll have to look for my arrow, but I know for sure that the opening in the MAF where the actual sensor is at is supposed to point towards the filter.

interesting. well the arrow on my stock points to the throttle body, so let me know how yours is set up please haha.

You can try putting it back to stock to see if that fixes it..

yeah thats how ive had it. k&n either drilled the holes wrong or gave me the wrong pipe or something but w/e i can find a way to fix it

Does it run normally with the stock one back on? I'd give that a shot before you decide the k&n unit is messed up.

yeah except the maf doesnt fit that way, it is upside down on mine lol

Talk to k&n then and see if they'll give you a replacement.
