Cobalt 2006 LT(2 door) 2.2l motor.

When the car is turned off, the fan in the very front of the car keeps spinning. Its making a loud noise that sort of sounds like the engine is still on, but after looking, Im pretty sure its the fan that keeps spinning.

Also I the I think temperature light(red looks like a thermometer I think) keeps popping up. I need the car today as Im searching and driving around town for a job.

I'd go by 3-5k miles. Honestly I never trust it. My cobalt says I have 40% left yet I changed the oil n filter 1 k miles ago. Started at 85%

So I looked at the coolant and it was as dry as my di...dogs water bowl. Filled it up about halfway, went to Oreillys, high school(job interview), and taco bell(job interview). Came back and it was pretty empty but it didnt overheat. So I filled it up all the way and went to do something else in my truck. When I checked it again it was about 75% or 3/4ths...ok filled it up again. Checked it once more and I think its at about 90% but decided to see where its at in the morning.

Btw, last time I filled it with coolant was Dec/Jan...

Weird, glad you found the source of the over heating. It's probably still working all the air out of the system.

The coolant hasnt moved any. The oil is good. I put some tape over the black hose that connects to the silver bar that connects to the engine incase of a leak.

If there's a leak at the return tube, tape isn't going to stop it.

Is that tube damaged?

Lol @ tape wont stop it; tape stops everything! But no I didnt think so. Just making sure. Is there any where else I can check for leaks that connects to the coolant box?

The bottom has a hose, but those are the only 2. Once the system is warm you should be able to track down if it's leaking.

No holes in the radiator?

Your thermostat isn't working anymore. Happen to me a year ago, when I shutdown my AC the fan is acting like crazy, it spins at full high speed. A trip to garage is better.
