When I brake, there is a rubbing noise coming from the rear tires. It is more pronounced when I am going down a hill or backing up. (It also makes a horrendous screaching noise from the front when I stop, but, I was told that's normal with some new brakes?) Anyway, I just got the car at the end of January, and the brakes were replaced at that time. I took it to a shop a couple weeks ago, and they checked my brakes/rotors and said everything is fine. I've put less than 500 miles on this car, and, I have no idea what it could be. It has about 47K miles, total.

TIA for any help.

For the front brakes, try pulling out the pads and coating the back of them with a product like CRC Disc Brake Quiet Gel.

It is a pink/orange gel that comes in a small bottle. That will help stop the pads from vibrating and creating that screeching noise.
