I've been wanting to put a sound system in my car basing it off a Sony xplode 1000w amp. Pioneer car speakers either two 10" subs or one 12" and replace the deck with a screen complete with navi. I've been trying to do some research, but the nominal watts and peak watts is really confusing me. Anyone that can help?

Peak is mostly irrelevant, nominal (RMS) power is how much your speakers can take more or less forever.

Emperor should chime in shortly, he knows way more than I do.

^^ hit it on the head.

do you have the pioneer system or the base system? if you have the pioneer you will need to do an amp bypass as well so you would want to do everything at once

the easiest way is if you have the stock tweeters in the door sail panel. If you have a blank plastic panel or the manual mirrors then its the base

If you have a subwoofer stock then you have the Pioneer system.
