Tough shifting w/ 07 LS

Hi,

I recently bought a used 07 Cobalt LS w/ 32k miles.

I noticed that even though I've driven it 600 miles since buying it, the shifting (especially out of neutral into 1st or reverse) can be pretty tough. Even into other gears can be fairly tough. Is this normal?

I was driving a '96 Ford Ranger 5 speed before, so perhaps I'm just too used to that.

It's probably just getting used to the way cable shifters feel, I know my yota felt better shifting. Though it is possible theres something wrong with it.
