My daughter has a 2005 Cobalt LS. Last night she was driving the car and all of a sudden, the check engine light came on, the digital readout on the dash was displaying "Power steering", the engine began revving, and the shifter was making a clicking noise. She had the car in for the recall on the Power Steering about 2 weeks ago. She shut the car off, waited a few minutes and restarted it. The check engine light was still on and when she put her foot on the brake to shift, the engine began revving again. She shut the car down and we called for a tow truck. When the tow truck arrived, the check engine light was still on, but none of the other symptoms were present. Has anybody else had similar symptoms with their cars, or any idea what this could be?

there is a voluntary national recall on all cobalt models ls lt ltz sport SS all of them for the power steering control module. What happens is that at any moment these modules in our cars car fail. its recommended that the driver get the car down to 15 mph if possible. at 5 mph increasing increments its up to the drivers skill to maintain control.
