will a 2.2l from a 2007 cobalt fit and work in a 2005 cobalt ?

i have a 2005 base model with a 2.2l with 255000 on it and it finally gave up . i have found a engine out of a 2007 seems the same but just looking to make sure . also i found one from a 2009 .

2009 will not work, it is an LAP motor with VVT. 2007 should be the same L61 as your 05 has. Easy to tell though, right next to the cyl 1 spark plug there will be 2 plugs for the actuators of it has VVT.

Find an 05 with much less if you want to be sure.
