Curious sound

So you guys that have SS/TC cars might know what I'm talking about. When you get to the top of first and the car sounds like its backfiring right as you shift, thats not compressor surge is it? Just started thinking about it the other day and it kinda worried me.

i can't wait to hear that in person one day, i had the muffler delete and it was already like a shotgun lol i can only imagine a catless DP with muffler delete

No, its hard to describe the sound....tried to find a sound clip....there are none.

It sounds like from the turbo area, but I'll have to play with it to get a sound clip, its pretty rare that I have more than just me in the car when I do a NLS. Oh and 1-2 NLS = synchro death lol not doing that again.

............... does that mean i should check mine b4 doing the transplant while i've got it out of the engine bay? I did that a few times but not consistently or on a daily basis, I was smooth about each 1-2NLS I ever did, it wasn't very often because 1-2NLS is useless anyway.

only reason i say dont do that was because a ss/tc owner in my city raced (and BEAT) and evo x by nls 1-2 then 3-4 but he blew his engine

hmmmmmmmmmm not sure what to say on that one, i RARELY went 3-4, once again that one is useless, the only useful NLS was 2-3 IMHO. 1-2 useless(traction), 2-3 perfect, 3-4 useless(more power with early shift), 4-5 wtf who does that lol

lol np man, i've done that a few times, at first just to see if it was any faster, then after i decided it wasn't helping i tried it a few times later on to see how much slower it was.

Its not the normal BPV sound, and it is holding boost.

i'd take a shop foreman at a local GM shop for a ride and ask them, i've never heard that noise b4 on a NLS

Yeah, definitely not letting them decide by themselves what that noise is...who knows how many times they would want to "find" the sound.

yea always take a shop foreman with you, show them the noise yourself first
