hey im new to this forum and wasnt sure where i should post this thread at

i have a 2009 cobalt lt sedan and i just hate the fact that it has automatic headlights :Plugged: but have absolutely no idea how to permanently disable them but if i do i would like to be able to do it in a way that i can reverse this and enable them again when i decide to trade or sell my car

im up for anything because i really want this feature off of my car plus it just doesnt make sense to have headlights on in the middle of the day it just seems like its wasteful and pointless

any pictures or videos of what to do would be awesome! like i said i have no clue how to do this so i would condiser sticking a turkey in the glove box if somebody who sounded like they knew what their talking about told me to do so lol thanks in advance!

automatic headlights isnt different but to disable the daytime running lights or headlamps on all the time you pull the DRL fuse as suggested. there may or may not be a relay but its much safer to pull the fuse

What is your reasoning to defeat the Daylight Running Lights?

I personally will say that they DO make a difference. When aproaching a car, say in deep shadow, the first thing that you will see are the lights. The split second that it will give you; will give you a chance for avoidance. Not every time you drive, but it only takes once.

I used to be on the local Fire Department. I have driven across the Country several times, going different routes.

Any members up in Canada, especially in the Toronto ON area?

One thing that I DID was to put Rat Shack Diodes off the ingnition coil to the Front Markers. Cops up in Canada seemed to like it. Also I put a diode on the ground side of the Beams; which drops the voltage 0.7 volts, and will let the bulbs last a little longer.

I have seen too much Blood. I am 69, and have seen my share. You state that you are 18.

Listen to either your Dad, your Mom, the Preacher, your Physics teacher.

I grew up in Schenectady NY, Graduated from Niskayuna, Class of 60. The first week we had the Cops and two insurance companies give us the Pep talk. "Two of you will be dead by Graduation." Some fellows went up to Lake George, NY. One of them they were able to get out of the car. The other, died. They say that he was screaming. The thing that bothers me was that WE shared the same Home Room desk.

Just want you to think about it.

anyone know how to do this? I have disabled my DRL using the fuse.. and that works for keeping the HID's off during the day. however I am worried they may turn on in my garage before I can pull out into the sun... plus my HALO's won't come on unless i have my parking lights on..

Please let me know of a way to disable the AutoLights.

Thanks.

You can disconnect the sensor on the dash, that will either make it stay on or off. If it stays on just toss an appropriate resistor on the end of the connection to mimic daytime resistance of the photo resistor.

yeah from what i have been reading.. if you unplug it, it would make the lights on all the time..

if i had the correct resistor.. it will fool the sensor into thinking it is daytime all the time.. so the lights would never come on automatically.... just not sure I want to go that far.

my mindset right now is to either find an easy ignition switch wire that could feed the halo's while the car is on during the day.. or just leave it to where I would have to flip the parking lights on to have only halos during day...

You did ask how to disable autolights.

Running a wire from the DRL fuse to your halos is the easiest way to make your auto DRL halos work.

I'm not sure how you'd go about delaying the autolights without building a circuit with a timer in it.
