I know many of you know about that issues that GM has had with the ignition turning off well driving. If not, make sure you look into it and see if your cobalt has this issue and get it taken care of. This article was about girl that died from the ignition turning off well driving.

GM in February has issued a recall for 2003 - 2007 chevy cobalts. Make sure you get you cars in to the dealers!

I'm gonna put it off because A) it's gonna take a while to get parts and get everyone taken care of, B) If the engine turns off, I'll turn it back on, and C) I'm not a girl so I should be able to handle a car without power steering/brakes.

The airbags turn off with the ignition as well.

My '08 shut off like this when the car was almost new. Never did it again so I did not take it in, also one time the glove on my hand got caught on my key ring when I was going to shut the car off and the key came right out of the ignition with the car still running. Lucky I was able to shove the key back in and turn the car off. I also have had the issue where the ignition switch locks up and you have to mess with the steering wheel and shifter to get it turn to start the car. These would have been great cars if they would have paid a little more attention to quality. I have had other problems I will post in appropriate sections.

Erica I did not get back to you because I figured a larger recall would be coming soon,
[Which now it officially has] for all Cobalts. I know the recall game and this was all about money. Gm has known about this problem for years. Shame on them. And yes I realize all of the manufactures play the same game.

I too have had this issue. I tried calling my dealer, and they took down my VIN and told me I would be contacted when parts were available but I haven't heard anything as of yet :\ I'm hoping I hear something soon

Make sure to ask about a loaner car to use until they fix your Cobalt. They gave me a 2014 Dodge Avenger.

Mine didn't even do that, told me they hadn't made parts yet and took my number down.

I was under the impression that this was an anti-theft measure? Where if you turn the wheel when the ignition isn't set to "on", the wheel locks up? That part I've seen on pretty much every car, and the thing with having to turn the steering wheel to get the key to turn, I feel like I've only experienced this in situations where the wheel is locked. Had the exact same thing happen in a newer Accord. Correct me if I'm wrong, I certainly have never googled it...

I took my cobalt out of the dealership. They ain't have parts. They ain't holding the cobalt hostage. I got lots of money into it. The other SS as soon as I register it under my name I'll drop it off. I need a new key for it so why not. Free keys
