how the law work here. according to me, if you ve a crash without winter tire you get a fine of 400$. but how it really work, police make verification on road to check all 4 tires. but this is useless. quebec and lévis dont use that tactique but i heard that montreal doest it.

haha this argument is never ending, i drove on winter tires last winter, they were great, im on all seasons this year commuting everyday and got around fine. You have to use extra precaution and etc, etc. This argument will never end. Winter tires are great but all seasons also "work" as mark said if you drive for conditions.

( I got up bow trail at coach hill on pure ice that day before they closed it down, yes it was scary but possible)

I dont think anyone would argue that winters are better but at the end of the day know whats on your vehicle and drive for conditions. Just dont have on summer high performance tires on like the BMW roadster did next to me that same day hahaha.

i bet that BMW didn't make it home without a tow truck lol.

I agree that all seasons if you drive for the conditions are "ok" but of course winters are much better and I think the vast majority of ppl if they were told the "law" requires winter tires they would put them on and be better off themselves as horrible drivers and for those who know how to drive could use all seasons, it would be kinda like the tint law out here, it's a law, but only if you do something stupid infront of a cop and he pulls you over for something else, the tint ticket is just the icing on the cake for them........

we ve a issue here. ppl are runnning winter/ice tire during summer.

they test 3 season against winter tire on dry and wet pavement. Winter tire has a longer braking distance by 15% and less stability. softer compound and side wall.

here how quebeker thing. ok my winter tire are finished, keep them until next year and then buy new winter tire. but in fact you spend more money in gaz and it more dangerous.

used winter tire during summer are just good for excessive burn out lol

if you are sick of it just go on fail.net with that kind of comment

where are still in canada and not in china.

if we talk about winter, ice rate tire, all season or 3 season, wtf tire are made for, its because it a hot topic to talk.

BTW
ice tire are shit in snow conditions. today it snowy and ice dont have traction on snow compare to a snow tire.

winter tire design with big aggresive block
ice tire is designed with softer strip compound that its more flexible on ice.

that depend your need
if you do lot of stop and red light: ice tire
if not snow tire

I would say in general it is ice tires that the moronic drivers would be better with, ice is very dangerous to an unexperienced driver and again with ice u just keep sliding unless u know how to counter steer and modulate the brake properly.

one thing sure, it is that ABS are good on ice because you can steer with controle and slow down. when u lock the brake it go straight same if you streer. the key is to pratice in a big parkong lot.

a good driver should never activate the abs, i think in the 3 years i've owned my car i've activated the abs maybe 5 times.

I got to disagree.

A good driver will still use abs, because we're all human and sometimes we push to hard... where the abs kicks in .

abs is there to assist everyday drivers.... Even "professionals" use it... Lots of variables.. Tired, too much pressure. hit a bump while braking

My semi has abs....

ya but thats under abnormal circumstances which i already agreed is handy. and i never said i've never used my abs. its kicked in a few times on icy parts that weren't icy earlier that day and i used too much pressure. all i'm saying is a prepared driver will rarely and not solely rely on abs to stop them.

Honestly I've had issues keeping my ABS from kicking on because of the brembos. The choices are very light braking, heavy braking, and very heavy breaking, and I hate ESC unless I am going fast on ice, tho even then I prefer ESC off because the slightest slip of the rear end and ESC kicks in trying to help u panic stop........I really hate it
