mini update

Okay after some research and deliberation I have decided to ditch the LQ4 block from my project. While it is iron and will withstand boost it isn't the best choice as it will be running on the edge and I don't like that idea. I always choose over-built as opposed to being on the edge. So instead of using the used LQ4 (iron LS2) I have decided that it is worth the added cost and start with a nice, new, ......

LSX454 bare block. It won't arrive for a few weeks but I will post pictures when I get it. I just thought I would share the news until then. :D

Obviously you haven't been around long enough because this project has been going on way too long now. :aetsch013:

ok well we'll have to work together on the time and when your unveiling and it might just work out to be close enough that you can unveil it at wccm
I will be pushing the shop so that it is finished just so he doesn't have to look at my ugly mug anymore.

nice buddy. overbuilt is always better. and don't push too hard cuz then they will cut corners.

This guy is an old time racer and cutting corners he won't do, he just won't finish it and the sound of that sucks.

Actually the LSX454 is still a SBC, just a really good one. :)

It will be 4 years on May 21st. :(

I don't like people/shops like that either.

This guy already told me that if I told him to cut a corner (I wouldn't) then he would quit doing the car. This guy isn't cheap but he does great work.

you get what you pay for my friend. i would rather pay a little more and get a quality build then pay less and get a questionable build.

care to bullet point a few of those things that weren't right.

It would be easier for me to say what was right...

  • nothing

Everything that is listed on their website as part of the build was NOT done. It was absolutely amazing how much of a scam it really was.

A teaser picture until I have the real block in hand...

oooh so it's 454ci but on a small block. i gotcha. i didn't know you could get that much bore out of a sbc. what crank does that use?
We have a custom crankshaft from SCAT, the specs for that I don't have yet (at shop)

i should try and get my buddy out with his built up 85 s10 blazer. would give you a good run for your money.

What does he run??

nice. that's an odd setup but i'm sure it'll be tons of fun. the best part is having to explain that you have 454ci in a small block. i love shit like that lol.

don't know what he runs yet. he blew the motor and has spent the last year building it bigger and better. he's expecting 10's out of it. here's a short vid of him starting it up.
