man that's a lot but it's worth what it does. there's a wrecked cobalt at my job i am wondering if i can grab the twb and mod it myself.

Sorry guys the links are from OTT's old website. And like Mike said, it's not just a matter of bolting on new hubs. Also, Powell doesn't just slap these axles together, they're a very custom project. The rear TWB cost me $1300 alone. No brakes, nothing.

So, it's not a light project.

Damn, if it was just swapping hubs I'd do it. Do the 5x114.3 hubs not have the correct spline count on em to mount to the axles or is it something else?

they are a direct bolt on as far as i know. i think it's 32 splines? that and the wheel speed sensors are plug and play. everything matches.

up front is easy fo-sheezy, it's the rear that has issues because anything other than a cobalt specific hub requires drilling, which weakens the TWB.

i mean, it'd physically work, but the locaion of the stock lugs has a lot of reinforcement material behind it. The spaces in between are quite a bit thinner.

these are from trying to work my lug swap using drilled stock hubs. Powell didn't like the idea of drilling where it was already weak, so we scrapped the idea.

So what about using the stock locations for the lugs, just filling the old studs in and redrilling for the new pattern? How solid would that be?

you mean like welding the holes closed, then re-drilling?

If i'm not mistaken they are cast, so welding it correctly is difficult at best.

that's not really a good alternative. From what i've read, welding cast iron/steel is really difficult to do correctly, and even then, its just not the best idea.

he meant popping out the stock studs and filling the holes. then redrilling them in the 5x4.5 circle on top of where the original holes wound have been. Just doesn't sound safe imo.

I think I agree, I just remembered reading something about how casting a hole in something is stronger than if you drill it...think the article was about crossdrilled brake rotors if I remember correctly.
