4dr. 2006 4cyl. 2.2L Chevy Cobalt.

Obviously not the most practical of cars to spend the money on throwing in either a cold air intake or short ram intake but i am going to do it. I was just wondering what anyone thought in terms of choosing one over the other?
Pretty much I am looking for the littlest bit of hp i can get out of either and from my pretty minimal knowledge, i think i could get more out of the CAI but at the same time, i would get a deeper sound out of a SRI?

Let me know your opinion on which would be a better investment. thanks.

the K&N SRI will give my car at least 13hp? that seems like a bit much for a 2.2l.
it is... if you have ever seen a dyno test for a intake it is 2hp at best. that is on a good day. intake is going to give you a little better mileage and better sound. you are better off keeping your stock intake over a sri unless you want looks and sound only. you will actually loose a small amount of hp due to the engine compartment temps. go CAI. the colder the air the better the performance. colde air= airmolecules smaller= more air molecules in hte chamber= larger combustion. CAI FTW! even the gains that you may get from a CAI is what they call head HP... it is 9/10 in your head and your mind is playing tricks on you. you will have minor gains up front but if you plan on doing more engine mods, intake is the foundation... next exhaust. it is a great place to start. GL. but dont waste your time on a SRI go with a FWI or CAI.

cold air = denser air = more air in the combustion chamber = lean air/fuel mixture due to lack of tuning

the size of the molecule doesn't actually change it is just closer together due to lack of energy.

stick around I might learn you something

okay this is what i have found on a few forums and other sites. what you do is you put sugar in your gas tank you see. what this does is actually makes the fuel sweeter, with this sweeter fuel you will gain better volumetric efficiency and in turn a slight to moderate increase of fuel mileage. Also so some say that two quarts of transmission fluid in the engine oil does wonders in enhancing the lubricity hence less friction = more hp

K&n Sri give you at least 13 hp. Not bad.

LMAO says who? wheres the dyno sheet proving that?

Heres the deal a SRI= some1 who cheaped out n didnt want to buy the CAI...

its simply closer to the engine, pulling in hotter air... a CAI is further away from the engine and pulling in colder air... its that simple... SRI's are just a joke...

puddle sucker my butt... if you put the think down under the rocker panel then yes... but if you put it in the fenderwall your fine. why do people think that the car makes anough suction to suc up water 3 feet off the ground. we are not talking about a shop vac people. and people... there is already water in the air we breath so the very minut little that may splash up towards the filter is not going to do a dang thing.,

Had no boost for the rest of the day, had to remove the air filter and dry it off.
