hey guys, i'm sort of new to Cobalts. i just picked up my 06 SS/SC a few months ago and after physically searching the car trying to learn the ins and outs, it's definately time to mod it. i already have an injen cai, i'm just thinking a catback and stage kit will be all i need for performance.

so what catback would y'all recommend?

what stage kit?

i'm not worried about warranty, i'm a mechanic by trade so i can fix it if it breaks.

Yeah I know.

Just tidbits of info.

But with anything, make sure you get a tune.

i'm seeing some stage kits come with a "canned" tune.... thoughts on those? should i just buy the parts and get a custom tune at a performance shop?

that's what i was thinking too.

what do you recommend for a catback? i just want something less restrictive with a good tone. price isn't that much of a factor but.... just like everyone, i love a deal.

OTTP Stg 1 plus OTTP H/E = best first mods.

From there probably full exhaust motor mounts and intake. in that order. A tune after the exhaust wouldn't hurt either haha.

Catback is OK for sound, but the restriction is in the downpipe. If you are getting a tune anyway, you could get a new downpipe and uncork that shit. I'd recommend Clear Image Auto for exhaust parts. Vibrant seems to be another contender.

Just build your own Stage 2 kit and find some one to tune your car for you. Stay away from the canned tunes. Pulley Boys has a 2.8 pulley that will bolt right up to you hub that is in your super charger.

For the money I would say the zzp kit is the best I have played with the ottp kit and just got the stage 3 kit for the gfs cobalt and For the money go with the zzp stage 3 it comes with a heat exchanger but if i were you i would spend the 50 bucks and upgrade to the zzp s3 heat exchanger it is superior to the other ones on the market and everyone I know who has them loves them

And of course you will want to upgrade to the poly mounts as well cheap mod that saves axles

i'm not really feeling how Trifecta does their tunes.... i'd prefer for my car to be on a dyno with the tuner in the driver seat and a laptop tweaking it. so i'm definately going with a custom HPTuners tune.

i heard ZZP is failsos tho..... :shrugs: idk

from what i've read on css.net, the poly mounts are horrible, i think i'll spend the money for the OTTP rotated mounts.
