THIS SERVICE UPDATE INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REASON. IT WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.

Purpose
This bulletin provides a service procedure to install a new stud and retainer on certain 2008-2009 model year Chevrolet Cobalt SS and HHR SS vehicles equipped with a manual transmission. On these vehicles, the charge air cooler inlet duct may become detached and contact the high pressure fuel pump connector. This contact could eventually cause damage to the connector, causing the fuel pump to become inoperative. If this were to happen, the Engine Power Reduced message would illuminate in the DIC and the maximum vehicle speed would be reduced to 20 mph (32 km/h).

This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.

Vehicles Involved
A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory is available on the "Service Update Bulletin Information" link under the "Service" tab in GM GlobalConnect (US) or attached to the Dealer Communication (Canada) used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicle's base warranty, and are within the VIN breakpoints provided below, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system listed below.

thats definitely a good one to get done but would it pertain to rissa's particular problem im not sure. but it does have to do with the charge piping so possibly

Yeah that is why i brought it up. Charge pipe coming loose can cause loss of boost pressure I am pretty sure. Unless she or anyone else has aftermarket then i doubt it can be done.

i thought they did a huge recall from the factory which is why they delayed the 08's for so long

Yeah that is why i brought it up. Charge pipe coming loose can cause loss of boost pressure I am pretty sure. Unless she or anyone else has aftermarket then i doubt it can be done.

and if it were that, they she wouldnt be fine sometimes and some not without fixing it from time to time which i would hopre she would have told us haha

I have no clue, I just found out about this today!

haha, if it were the charge piping, she would have to fix it in between the (it does it sometimes and sometimes not) to get it to go high in boost again...if the charge piping pops loose, causes boost loss, youd have to reconect before it got better again...she didnt say she was having boost tubing issues so i assume she hasnt had to fix it...so this shouldnt be the issue with it being intermittent...

Charge piping is stock, also heard of something about the wastegate actuator which could cause an intermittent fluctuation of boost. Anyone have that tsb?

this is the only tsb i can find in regards to the actuator. there are the other 2 for the rubbing of the charge piping and the wastegate actuator nipple breaking
