I understand you correctly?
If the problem is in the buttons that I should just replace them. But what if the problem is in the chip. Can I buy a keyless entirely? And then how to set it up under my cobalt?

You can buy a while new remote if needed. But you will need it to be reprogrammed at a dealership or mechanic with a Tech 2 machine.

You can test your current remote by opening it up and using a paperclip to bridge the lock circuit. That will tell you if it is just the buttons.

Is the battery clip still attached? Mine broke and I has to solder it back on.
