ok here is the drivers side done
this is to help for the tail of the Dragon and when i play on the back roads and in bad traffic
1. mesh on back of the fog light after i dremeled the hole larger. i may put mesh on front. painted it black
2. the put the pieces together and used small 1/4 long self taping screws (6 per piece) and there is 3 pieces to put together
i ran a small bead of silicone on the ends
3. i took off the L and just moved the connetor over to the filter to hook up the flex line and it went right around it and hooked up fine. got my air filter clean as well
4. then found out i only need around 5 inches of 2 inch pvc so a connector may work but you need it at least the 2 inch pvc outside diameter
5. ran it up the side and back of the wall and used some tin snips to cut an angle out so the hose wet thru easily
6. angled it down and tied to the back and angled it to the brakes. it is secure and pointing right at the rotor and pads. will do the other tomorrow
you can see the tire in the pic, checked w tire on and no issues and looks great
i may put a long shop vacuum suction piece to deflect the air over a wider area. i didnt want to pay 10 to 12 a piece to do this.
parts
36 inch Motormite 96034 pre-heater hose from Autozone (used 1/2 on drivers side)- 12.99 (6.50 per side)
Lowes
23444- 2 by 1.5 in flex coupling- $4.93
23455- 4 by 3 in flex downspount connector- 2.95
23478- 4 by 3 in coupling flexible- 8.77
66129- 2 pack #28 clamp (22669)- 2.37
5 inches of 2 inch pvc pipe. i had this laying around-
$25.50 per side to do this. if i added a bought deflector from a shop vac that would bring it to 35.50 and i think i can find it at garage sales
last night i went out and did some driving
heavy traffic and some yankin and banking on some cloverleafs
then before i got to see GSon at the house i pulled the parking brake a couple notches and drove lil over a mile
when i stopped, you could smell the brakes were hot from inside the car and the passenger side and was hot hot hot
you could almost touch the drivers side and no smell. i flicked some tea on the passenger side and it sizzled and nothing on the drivers side so this works and i think it will save my brakes and rotor over the whole lifetime. brakes felt stronger also all night while driving and i am glad i did this
i know we use our brakes more than we think especially in heavy traffic in rush hour times
definitely when out on the back roads doing curve driving which i do monthly and sometimes more
Spectre has this if you dont use fog lights to hook the tubes to
Spectre Performance 8788 - Spectre Performance Air Intake Velocity Funnels
this would work great too and what i would have done if i didnt use the fog light.
this one went on the drivers side where the fog light went
