Now I have to switch some parts and it will be ready to go into my car. My boss said it would be easier to get the tranny and engine aligned out of the car so he said to pull my engine and tranny out together then put the new engine and tranny together outside the car. Would this be easier or just a lot of extra work?

Easier probably. Or same work. Work in open space or enclosed

Easier out of the car, that motor is supposed to be dropped with the whole sub-frame out the bottom.

Its alive!! My brother and I ended up putting the motor in without pulling the tranny or dropping the sub-frame. Instead we pulled all the tranny mounts and got it over to the driver side enough to get the engine in and aligned. Started right up after we hooked the vacuum line up that we missed. No check engine lights either!

Decide to post some more pictures of the swap. Oh and the previous owner gave me maintenance records and he had a new clutch and fluid put in 15,000 miles ago and he paid the same amount for that as I paid for the car.

Thank you for your help. I decided that I'm going to drive this Cobalt for awhile and then I would like to buy a 5 speed coupe preferably a SS coupe but I don't know if I will be able to get a SS.

You can remove that oil full neck extension BTW, just twist it off like the oil cap. The cap fits back in without the silly extension.
