you take a cutting wheel to it, i havent done it myself though

Whatever you do, DO NOT heat the spring while cutting, IE: propane torch or using a welding cutter. Use either a hacksaw (might be slow but its the lowest heat tool) or a dremel or similar tool with a rotating metal cutting blade. (I suppose a sawzall would work as well but I do not recommend)

Thats waht I use is a cutting wheel but take short breaks while cutting so you dont heat it up too much
