:( my hide-a-bed is broken and it's really old to boot, most of my furniture in the living room only gets used by my cat for napping lol dunno if you'd like my cat he always wants to play when I'm sleeping. 1 bedroom ghetto apartment and a mostly empty fridge....if absolutely nobody else has anything better to offer I'm sure you could try to tolerate me for a weekend:rofl:

Haha Yeah im sure I could Tolerate ya :) But 10 of us got together on the 4th in Saskatoon, had dinner, then went for coffee and we're working on a Sask Delta club...

Just waiting for the domain name to setup in a few days and then we're already talking of events/meets.. I know some of us are planning on coming out to Drumheller / Banff this summer for a club roadtrip

yeah my roommate doesn't understand housing.... He bought this house.. and supposely it was a fully serviced lot.... it wasn't.. then we got no gas so everything is run thru the electrical... It's a good thing his parents went and put the electric bill on equalized payments..... 260/month. But he tries to keep the house at +15C here thinking his bill payments will stay the same... :emotions122:

Then he goes out and gets some stupid ACN video phone,, where you need highspeed internet with 256kbps upload rating, Yet no phone line to the house..... So no internet of any sort and so He just wasted 600$'s on said phone... His step brother and I told him not too... :emotions122:

ouch, sounds like alot of wasted money, I hope to find a new place sometime this week and start plans for moving in asap, it is bitter cold in this damn apartment and I really really am hating this place more and more by the day, fire alarms, i swear there is a crack dealer down the hall from me, crackheads and homeless ppl in the parkade...........yea it's time for a new place, with double heated garage and at least 3 bedrooms, hopefully something with a modern interior that's what we want.

Hey good luck on getting that place mang. Me and my girlfriend will be moving into a mobile home on the 30th. Their purdy nice. I'd say go for one of them (but in a newer section of calgary) cause ours is 3 bedroom, 2 baths, and it would have came with a garage but we couldn't afford it with the garage so we dropped it to get the home.

you guys callin me a bad driver....by the way i have winter tires. but i also drove on all seasons for a few years and the winter tires are better but you still have to use your head as just because you got winter tires doesn't mean you can stop on a dime all of a sudden. plus my summer tires are a summer rated tire and even at 5c in october in the mornings all they would do is spin.

u missed skating day in Calgary a few weeks ago, 600 accidents in 1 afternoon, that number would have been cut in half if the majority of ppl had ICE RATED winter tires. Notice I didn't say completely save all accidents, yes there are still STUPID drivers EVERYWHERE, but, in a panic stop, ice rated tires are WAY better than all season, I bet at least 400 of those accidents were panic stop accidents that ice rates tires could have prevented. Since then, till yesterday when it warmed up, it has been mostly a skating rink around Calgary, I could spin in 5th gear going 70km/h any road WITH my ice rated tires.......thus I conclude EVERYONE driving in Calgary winters needs ice rated tires.

ok first of all steve i am not saying if you have winter tires that you are bad driver. that is a bonus if people have winter tires. i will tell you thou i don't appreciate when some guy on here starts shooting off his mouth about this and that. then doesn't think about what he says and who it may apply to. ya nate that is you, i have done nothin but help you out and you wanna call me a moron. sure some accidents will be saved by winter tires. really thou how many you really think. 400 lol come on. most accidents are caused by speed and careless driving. including in winter. winter tires will not save any one of those accidents. yes they will save a slight bump from happening. but i will tell you that i sat in traffic just as much as you and every accident i seen on the side of the road was probally caused by speed and careless driving. so until drivers change thier driving habbits, don't talk to me how winter tires should be law. just so you know nate my tires are all seasons and i avoided 2 diff. accidents last week by defensive driving. oh ya the fronts are like a third worn and my backs are next to bald. all i have to say nate is how long have you really lived in this city, you of all people should know that calgarians have very bad driving habbits. not all of us but most.

winter tire FTW

can you guy can ride tire with stud in it in alberta or you using chain. we can but just between november and march. no chain is allow in qc

here some +- for stud tire
better traction and braking on snow and ice
less traction on dry pavement than a studless on emergency brake
cost more gas to run it
more expensive

..............I feel so bad :( I didn't mean for you to take it this way, what I am trying to say is which would be better, changing drivers or their tires and the vehicles they drive(ie safety features like ABS/TC/Stability control), the chances of drivers changing are zero, ppl will keep driving this way, so, u gotta go a different route to increase safety and that is winter tires, by no means did I mean to say u were a bad driver at all mark, my entirely family uses all season tires but I would feel much better if they had ice rated tires, same with u mark your a friend and I wouldn't want anything to happen to u, ice rated tires would save ppl from a lot of the fender benders they get themselves into by bad habit driving and maybe save us a few last second emergency manuvers. I strongly believe that ice rated tires would save lives and hundreds of body shop repairs.

Mark, I'm sorry u took it the way u did, I meant no personal offense to anyone esspecially a friend, I come across really rash most days but u know I don't mean it that way man, u know me better than that.

I drove on all season tires for at least 5 years and yes here in Calgary but I still think ice rated tires in winter is a better idea than all season tires. You are right, the serious accidents always involved speed and someone not thinkin straight, but for that 600 accidents in 1 afternoon, ice tires would have cut that number in half, majority of accidents were just fender benders, all it takes is a slight dip in the road to spin a car on ice with an inexperienced driver at the wheel. Let me ask u this, would u rather keep having to emergency manuver or would u rather save a few less scary moments and have smoother flowing traffic? We both have good points and bad points to this debate I guess.

i drive for a living...

So i see all sorts of accidents year round that SHOULD be avoided if people would use common sense.... ALOT of people lack that one fundamental.

Winter tires in the winter is a good idea.. but not alot of people will use them for whatever reason they want to believe in..

Chains.... Not recommended until in severe weather conditions or going offroading/up mountains etc....

Last winter i never used chains on my semi, If the roads that damn bad. i pull off the road and wait it out... I'd rather be a few hours late due to weather then being stuck in the ditch, with damage done to my car.. Thats why in the winter it's common sense to have 1/2 or more of fuel in the car..

Even driving the redline i was tired/slippery roads ( Got all season ) and pulled into the next time, slept in the car until the plow went by at 5am got home at 6am

If more people would use alittle common sence.. alot of mishaps wouldn't happen.

Chains are not necessary unless it's an emergency and somebody is dying and needs to get to a hospital so we are 100% in agreement there and I'm sure everybody else is as well.

As unfortunate as it sounds, common sense does not exist anymore, thus why the vast majority of ppl should be required to use ice rated winter tires during winter. As well, since I am targeting the vast majority of drivers that suck, they should also ensure they are NON-STUDDED, otherwise on dry pavement they'd get into accidents.......it actually has me second guessing my idea for studded tires next year and I might just stick with an ice tire without studs.

Glad to see a Truck driver that has respect for the road, props to you :) I would imagine there is quite a few that have zero respect for the road and still drive a semi..........:whymewhyme:bad news

I can't say I've ever had to pull off the road, unless I was getting stuck I would keep pushing forward, or if it was a whiteout I'd be off that road and down a sideroad to park and wait it out. I've had to pull off the road a few times due to fatigue and nearly falling asleep at the wheel but in the end I got off the road immediately.

I disagree, drivers who suck in winter don't usually drive that fast, ppl are crawling along and all the sudden ppl are stopping and they don't realize it......slidddddddddddeeeee SMASH into the back of the vehicle infront of them, now, replay that situation with ice rated winter tires......sliddddddddddddeeeeee and probably half a foot from the vehicle infront of them they will stop, thus saving a fender bender, thus saving something for ppl to stop watching the road and go "o hey look an accident i gotta see this I've never watched them on TV, movies, youtube, goggle b4......" <----FAIL!!! but yet, because they are not paying attention BAM accident #2, accident #3 and #4 comes from more ppl not paying attention and hitting either the previous accidents or someone else. Now we have complete and total gridlock......go back to the beginning, ice rated winter tires, no first accident, and because of that #2 #3 #4 will no longer happen.......tell me again why Alberta enforcing ppl to use winter tires in WINTER, is a bad idea? I would go a step further and enforce ICE RATED tires vs just winter tires.

Mark, you are absolutely spot on when you say that when speed is involved there is no saving the accident.........but, that is only partially true. Give a poor driver ice rated winter tires and maybe they will avoid hitting another vehicle, they'd still put themselves into a pole/curb/barrier ect, but they would have a better chance of not hitting anyone else. Isn't that worth enforcing winter tires for winter driving conditions? We need some stats from Quebec and Ontario from before they enforced winter tires and again after, I bet the numbers speak for themselves.

That is 100% EXACTLY what Calgary looked like last week and the week before, that shit stuck around 2 weeks just piling up more and more till we FINALLY got a break and some above freezing temperatures the past few days and at least half has melted making our streets really really nasty......my poor Cobalt looks like somebody smeared shit all over it.
