I constantly get the P0171 code after I put the K&N on the IRL, usually its due to the filter oil getting on the MAF. In your case if you are hearing strange noises coming from the intake manifold then I would just be die hard on checking the seals in the intake and the intake manifold. With my problem it stays but I just disabled the P0171 code in HPT.

no offense akidoshadow but that is not very bright. if you ever get another problem that causes that code to show up you can do serious damage to your motor. the solution to your particular problem is use less oil when cleaning your filter. don't just shrug the lean code off as something thats not needed

The code still appears lol, it just doesn't trigger the MIL light. Trust me I researched and tried everything with GM techs from Chevy and Saturn dealers.... filter, MAF, piping, TB, etc. and on some of the IRLs in particular you could never get rid of the that as long as you had the K&N, even Spooner from back in the day on RLF turned off the MIL light on P0171 in his tunes for himself and for other people. I might go and buy an AEM dryflow to exchange and see if it will make a difference but K&N with light oil, heavy oil, no oil, clean MAF, clean piping, etc.....Unfortunately its one of those things like the P0420 code that you have to disable MIL light or your CEL is gonna be there.

edit:
In Kane's case it is very much something he needs to look into.

Don't jump ship so fast, just take it off and get some time to put it back and this time make sure that you have everything together and in its place man. GM wouldn't have put those intakes out as a swap kit if they were really that experimental.

On another note for outtamymind I run a 2.8 and 42s too. ;) forgot to tell you good looking out though man.

so idk i took it off for now. but i think i may try again when im ready to get tuned, untill then ill just slowly get parts and one day boom everything :p that way it can all be taken care of at once, i also think its the tb vinny ported for me, idk

edit: and i also found out OEM fucked up my 2.4l tb when they were going to port it because they tried to take it apart. ug good thing i wasnt actually using that yet and i only got it for 25 shipped. but still now i gotta look into another one

edit #2: i also had to replace front 02 sensor and maf sensor both were physically bad, reset ecu and still same code. im gunna try cleaning injectors and replacing fuel filter.

06balt, those trims you were looking at was that your short term (STFT) or your long term (LTFT) your short term trims will change quite quickly but your long term ones should stay a more constant percentage and when you were looking at that, what was the reading of your maf sensor in regards to g/s and what was your maf percentage

Youre right, GM wouldnt have put out the the LE5 intake as a swap......and they didnt. There is no GM swap kit for the L61

Ive had my LE5 intake on for nearly a year, and i was the first documented 08 to install one, you are correct however about making sure of the integrity of all the seal, ESPECIALLY the PCV orifice, the little seal with a metal plate. There is a GM calibration designed for this code, its intended to be used with replacement injectors for a particular repair procedure but the added airflow may be pointing out the "weak" injectors.

Ive had my 2.4 on for a while now and no lean code.I only have one code and its for no cat(p0420),Ive even scanned it multiple times at work and all i throw is the 420 code.Take carb cleaner and spray around the TB and the manifold to head to make sure there are no leaks. Also check your BB hose.

they were both short an long term ill have to look at the maf readings again
